The objective of the present work is to investigate the role of detonation gun spray method on the hot corrosion resistance of Stellite-6 and Stellite-21 coatings on SAE 431 boiler steel. Hot corrosion tests of specimens were carried out in the molten salt environment [Na.sub.2]S[O.sub.4]-82%[Fe.sub.2][(S[O.sub.4]).sub.3] at 900[degrees]C for 50 cycles of one hour duration.

The principal advantage claimed for Field-tube boilers is that there are none of the expansion problems experienced in boilers with simple tubes.
